I had an evil thought. I asked, “Where did that come from?” Did I invent that thought or did the devil put it in my head? The sociologist might suggest it came from my environment, and the geneticist might find it’s source in my genes. The neurologist might even give me a detailed breakdown on the mechanics of thought origin in brain tissue, and they might all be right.

However, they don’t really answer the question. All they can describe is mechanics. God created my brain–even supposing the Darwinist should be right about process–God still created my brain. God knew my genetics the moment I was conceived (Psalm 139), and God designed the mechanics of thought.

Jesus said that evil comes from the human heart. The heart is the retail store where evil appears on the shelves. Luke 22 tells us that Satan entered Judas heart. Jesus also said that Satan is the father of lies and a murderer from the beginning (John 8:44). The manufacturer of deceit is the Devil. Therefore, the evil thought did not originate with me, and although it’s been delivered to my store, I don’t have to keep it on the shelf.
